Maybe it's because I didn't play Nemesis back when it first came out, but I quite enjoyed the remake - so much so that I started another playthrough as soon as I finished my first run.

It's not a bad game in the grand scheme of things, just a terrible remake bearing only the most superficial resemblance to the original

Unenjoyable” is probably the best way to describe RE3R. So much of it just felt soulless, which is a stark contrast to what was achieved with RE2R.

Part of the problem was the writing. It was somehow campier than the original, and, as you noted, everyone essentially had the same “action hero” personality. At no point did I feel like anyone was responding to the hell that hit Raccoon. They were all just trying to one-up each other with quips.

You can feel the rushed development, and it really detracted from the experience.

It really did feel like a £20 expansion... except it was a fully priced game and marketed as a remake of a beloved classic... while missing at least 2/3rds of the original.

I doubt I'll ever play it again for the reasons you state and the ones in my review, it's really poorly written and just doesn't feel as good to play as RE2R; that gore system added more to the game than just another way to slip past zombies.
