Excellent list! I appreciate each game you mentioned for different reasons, but what really caught my eye was you mentioning the Castlevania Requiem bundle. Since it has both the Rondo localized version and the better SotN dub from the Dracula X Chronicles, more people should give this collection some love!
Thanks! I've been really appreciating these Konami collections: the other Castlevania one is a game I own on every platform I like it so much and their Gradius one that came out last week is also awesome; let's hope Metal Gear Solid Delta turns out well so they stick it out in the West and we can enjoy Konami games again.
Yeah! I didn't have an opportunity to play the new Gradius collection, but everything points to them following the same winning formula from the previous Castlevania and Contra collections, so I'm sold!
As for MGS Delta, I have some high hopes for this one and for the new Silent Hill f coming out in September. It looks like Konami is coming back to its former old self, but at the same time I feel cautious about it. Here's hoping they can deliver to the promises and keep the fans satisfied.
I replayed Shenmue 1 and 2 last year and man do they still hold up. They are such vibe games, so surreal and otherwordly even as they try to depict real world locations. I love them. Like you, I have Shenmue 3 on PS4, but have yet to play it.
I feel the same way about Mario Sunshine. I really don't like it that much, it's probably my least favorite 3D Mario, and yet, every time I play it, I get sucked back in.
Majora's Mask is a game I respect, but don't love. Feels like Nintendo needed to get that one out of their system. I do wish they were able to make another weird, off-kilter Zelda game again, though.
I'm saving them both for a potential replay this Winter (it's been 2 years now and I'm wanting to revisit that world) but always tempted to boot up the DC and play every time I even think about them. They really do feel ethereal, almost solemn, I have to stress that I went into the console with next to no knowledge and expectations but a mix of Shenmue, Code: Veronica and the original, superior version of Sonic Adventure has made me a Dreamcast convert. It's always felt to me as if they knew Shenmue would be Sega's last hurrah as a console manufacturer making a first party title but of course, I would say that given I'm too young to remember a time when they still made them.
That or 3D World for me, I know it's a bit of a YouTuber opinion these days but the NEW Super Mario games and their adjacent titles really do feel like a chore to replay unless you're specifically craving them.
I feel the same way and share your wish, I miss the dark edge a lot of the older Zelda games had and I've never been a fan of the Ghibli-esque art-style, it removes a lot of the Arthurian/Ancient Greek charm Zelda drew on heavily in the SNES/N64 era.
A little discussed fact too was that they really fumbled Japan with low hardware to fulfill demand and it killed the Saturn before it lost popularity there.
This is a good list, thanks for sharing. We share Castlevania Requiem as a "new" experience as I played Symphony of the Night for the first time this year. It's something I'll be publishing soon.

Definitely good to be cautious considering the past decade and the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection definitely left a little to be desired

Glad you liked it!

Sega really went all out with the Dreamcast. They were doing well for a brief time and then... the PS2 appeared.
The NEW Mario titles are my least favorite by far. New Super Mario Wii in particular is a slog, I do not know why it is rated so highly.
A little discussed fact too was that they really fumbled Japan with low hardware to fulfill demand and it killed the Saturn before it lost popularity there.
I always get 1-2 worlds in then just get bored

Awesome game. I like them both equally but for very different reasons.
