I want to see... posts about actually GOOD games for once! Enough about this old Nintendork stuff! Where's all the Xbox games? Where are the shooters that don't have 007 in the title? You thought Rondo was hard, why don't you play the original Haunted Castle or Vampire Killer for the MSX?
Jokes aside, I'm around for whatever you do, unless its another 30 pages about economic theory in a Paradox game. Views will come and views will go, the important thing is to keep yourself in the game so when the stars align you're there for it.
I should pivot to exclusively reviewing Original Xbox exclusives that EVERYONE remembers like Voodoo Vince and 2002's Sneakers.
Would 40 pages change your mind? In all seriousness I appreciate it, I'd probably 'do numbers' if I wrote more about indie games and Clair Obscure rather than console shooters from prehistoric times but oh well, can't do what everyone else is doing.
The last month has been brutal for me. Not wanting to write. Feeling like my work isn't meeting my own requirements.
Like you, I've been writing at least one post a week for the last long while and... sometimes I just want a break! Like a long one. A month or more.
Of course, we could take one, but then demonic thoughts enter our mind. "The algorithm will forget about you." "People won't care about your work anymore." "If you take a break, you'll never come back."
All that is to say, I sympathize. We are not robots, though. Some days we will want to write. Some days we won't.
I hope you find a writing/posting rhythm that works for you and that you continue to write about whatever you want. Some posts will land, some posts won't, but having a sense of satisfaction in your own work is priceless.
I know the whole gaming category complaint has been done to death by now but something inside me dies when I see a 3 minute long post under another entertainment category that gets hundreds of likes and comments but I'll read/write something about gaming with 10x the effort that barely hits 100.
I relate to that a lot. If the post isn't as long or as deep as previous ones I can hear a voice in my head saying "You're really phoning this one in, aren't you?" It can certainly grind you down this platform, especially when social media in general rewards being loud and controversial when I just want to write things that are... perfectly reasonable.
You too buddy, God knows we put a lot of effort in here and I hope someday there comes a time where we will be looked back on as the pioneers.
Your writing is excellent Scanlines, I wouldn't have it change to be any other way. If you're feeling the pressure of delivering though, I suggest just easing up on your schedule - it is what you make it, especially if you're doing it for free.
Really appreciate that Peter, thank you :) I think I may have to accept that some weeks I'm not going to write/be able to write as much, I was agonising over a few of these past reviews trying to make them as detailed as the Symphony Of The Night article but sometimes I just don't have that much to say.
You have a specific way of writing and I like it a lot when it’s also got opinion and history in the posts. A collection of essays would be a cool thing to buy. 🌟🎉
I enjoy reading your writing, especially reviews. You put a lot of soul into them and have interesting thoughts. I’d gladly pay for your copy of Elden Ring and/or Chrono Trigger so I can read your review.
Always a pleasure to see you in the comments, really appreciate your support. Nooo no need for that, I do own Elden Ring on Steam already, I really should get around to giving it another chance this year.

Take a break if you need to my dude, the last thing any of us want to see is you getting burnt out - your writing is far too enjoyable for that.
Thanks a lot for the compliment, I definitely have to avoid it, don't want things flatlining here
I hear ya, buddy.

Happy to have you along and enjoying :) In future I'll definitely look at putting some of my articles together in that format
