I'm sure you're ready for an RE break, but at some point, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the sequels, 4, 5, 6, etc. Even the spinoffs if you have any thoughts on those.
Thanks! I'm glad I could cover everything in the classic-era of RE.
They're absolutely going to get similar retrospectives in-future, probably not as a Halloween special though; I very nearly did RE4 and RE4 Remake instead of Zero and Veronica but it felt weird finishing with what was a new beginning for the series.
This was wonderful to read, especially as I'm on a bit of an RE kick at the moment. I'm not sure I'll ever play Zero, or if I'm missing out on anything by not playing it, but I appreciate experiencing it vicariously through the words of others. 🙂
Thanks Chris, really happy you enjoyed this one, I noticed you taking a look at this series and I really appreciate it. Love Resident Evil, you have great taste
It's a fascinating balancing act everyone has to play with the third party developers, make hardware and medium too proprietary and too different from everyone else and the effort becomes more than it's worth; the Sega Saturn and as you say: the PS3 almost was a victim of that. On the flip side, if there's nothing special or unique about the hardware it's almost not worth getting.
I'm bummed out that I couldn't get the N64 version of RE2 for that episode, if you're not aware of that port then I thoroughly recommend looking it up, they fit both discs of the PS1 game on 1 N64 cartridge with almost zero compromise and even a few improvements to the game.
Zero deserves a remake based on its presentation and soundtrack alone, it might not be fun but at least it succeeds in the scare factor.
Well done, sir!

RE0 was the first Resident Evil game I actually played through myself (rather than watching my uncle play them), so I loved it 🤷🏻♂️
It certainly has its fans, I just don't count myself among them
